Vaccination Requirements

Please note that no cats will be allowed to stay with us unless their vaccination schedule is up to date.  This requires boosters to be given within the last 12 months and certainly given at least two weeks before arrival.  These vaccinations are to include Cat Flu and Enteritis. Feline leukaemia (FeLV) is not essential as many vets deem it unnecessary if your cat is an indoor only cat.  If you have misplaced your vaccination card, please contact your Veterinary Practice for a copy.  Please bring your cat's vaccination card with you to the Cattery.

It would be very helpful if your cat can been treated for worms and fleas prior to their stay - if it is noted that they require treatment whilst with us, a charge will be made to cover the cost of the medication.

Transporting your Cat

It is uncanny that cat's know that there is something going on and often go missing when you want to take them here for their own little holiday.  So with this in mind, keep your cat indoors prior to your planned departure.  Have them in a suitable carrier (a cardboard box is not a great idea!).  Pop an old towel or newspaper in the bottom of the carrier in case of accidents!  We often find that not feeding your cat for a few hours before travelling, helps with vomit and poo!  It is our recommendation that you leave the cat carrier with us (it will be named and Unit number included) so that in the case of an emergency situation, your cat can be transported in it's own carrier.

Health and Medication

Please note that if your cat is suffering from or suspected to be suffering from any infectious disease, we cannot accept them into our Cattery.  This is for the health and safety of other residents.  Please let us know if your cat has any health problems (non infectious) and if they are to have any medication.  Please bring any medication with you and make sure it is clearly labelled so that we can administer it properly.  Depending on the type of medication to be given, there may be a small charge.  Please discuss this with us at the time of booking.

Feeding and Diet Requirements

The cats are fed twice a day unless otherwise required.  Kittens and elderly cats are fed according to their individual needs.  We offer a huge selection of different cat foods (both dry and wet) and hopefully your cat will be happy to accept these - as any big change in diet can result in upset stomachs.   A discount for bringing your own food will not apply.  All food is prepared in our special Cattery kitchen. We have a 'fridge available for any owners who wish to bring fresh meat for the cats and also a microwave for warming up cat food (as some cats apparently like their food warmed up!)  Food will not be served straight from the fridge - it will be brought to room temperature before being given to them.  For cats who are on special diets, please bring their food with them.  Each unit has been provided with a water fountain which encourages cats to drink more.  Although it is shown that wet food contains a large amount of water, it is beneficial for cats to drink plenty to avoid them developing kidney problems in later life.  Obviously if a cat drinks to excess, this will be noted and a trip to the vet will be recommended. The water fountains can hold up to 3 litres of water and the cats have the option to drink from the bowl or from the fountain itself.  It's funny how they love to drink out of taps!   These are cleaned regularly and come with a charcoal filter so that their water is as fresh as when it came out of the tap.

Bedding

We provide bedding but please feel free to bring along any favourite items or toys.  These will be documented on time of arrival and given back to you on departure.

Hygiene

Each unit is cleaned daily, food dishes replaced after every meal time and litter trays emptied and least twice a day, or more often if required.  The Units are deep-cleaned after every visitor.
